La Junqueira Artists Residency welcomed its 9th resident, the artist Anaïs Lelièvre, who invited us to her exhibition entitled: T ERRA MOT O.
While in Lisbon, she investigated limestone with many strata from Ajuda’s Rio Seco quarry, spoke to a geologist at the Archeology museum, explored the facade of Jerónimos Monastery, took multiple visual notes on A4 papers and used photography as note-making during her meanderings on Lisbon’s slippery and uneven pavements. She didn’t let our kiln rest, not even for a bit, creating the most intriguing somehow-familiar-somehow-alien elaborate ceramics, lit by past and present philosophical thought and blessed by the geology fairies.
