La Junqueira Artists Residency welcomed its 12th resident, Bence Magyarlaki, who realised their first limited and signed a sculptural edition furniture entitled ‘ÜLŐ’ in ceramic.
ÜLŐ, derived from Hungarian, is a word that plays on a simple action:
sitter, sitting and being seated, creating a merge between the object that is in itself performing the act of sitting, and the subject sitting on it.
The resulting artwork is a continuation of the artist’s exploration of sculptural language that they call ‘social bodies’. These works explore intimacy, desire and social relations.
