La Junqueira Artists Residency welcomed its 14th resident, artist Vincent Voillat, who invited us to his exhibition entitled “Les Fleurs du Mal”.

Through sculpture and drawing, Vincent has explored the tactile and sensual qualities of stone and marble, tying them to themes of instability, memory, and desire. His work bridges past and present, weaving connections between geological time, colonial histories, and what he describes as Lisbon’s poetic and mysterious essence.

His approach is based on sampling (geological extraction of rocks, studies of strata and vegetation, etc.) and borrows the materials for his works from popular culture. Attentive to interventions in the landscape, Vincent Voillat detects the traces of bodies and reveals their imprint, persistence and impression upon the history and reminiscences of a place.
